Wonderful Wednesday Twenty Two

Good morning and happy Wednesday! I am sat nursing a HUGE cup of coffee at my work desk at 7.30am as I write this. The husband had to be at work early today so I thought I would take the opportunity to get a few extra bits done myself, hopefully leading to less stress overall today. Stress is definitely around in abundance at the moment and I'm constantly trying to counteract the effects. In a couple of months the annual project of mammoth proportions will be over, so it's not forever. Anyway, on with the merry!

31 Days of Yoga
I began doing Yoga with Adriene's 31 Days of Yoga Revolution 6 days ago. I am planning on keeping it up and am calling it an unofficial "31 days of yoga until I turn 31". I feel more focused and even though yesterday, I just wanted to curl up on the sofa and rest, I made sure to get myself on my mat. I'm always glad that I did.

Herb Garden
With Storm Doris removing two of our fence panels, we felt it was time to tackle the garden and show it some love. Byron set to work mowing the lawn and pulling up a ton of weeds while I started planting some herbs right outside of our kitchen door. We were recommended a lovely garden centre a couple of miles from us which sells so many different varieties of herbs. We came home with some oregano, thyme and chocolate peppermint. A couple of weeks later and they are all still alive. Quite a feat because my outdoor gardening skills leave a lot to be desired! All tips welcome!

A Hair Cut
Truth be told, I hate visiting the salon. I absolutely adore the hairdresser but sitting still for a couple of hours listening to very loud music and a lot of chatter makes me feel stressed and anxious. The lovely Carrie shared her success with a YouTube video so I decided to brave it. Whilst it felt a bit scary at first, I'm really happy with the result. My hair is long enough now that you can barely tell the difference even though I took off an inch or two. I went rogue around my face framing bits because it isn't layered the whole way around. You can find a link to the video plus some other great things to click on in Carrie's post.

Wonderful Wednesday Twenty One

Good morning and happy Wednesday! What a week it has been! We had the joy of Doris taking out part of our garden fence and a beloved garden gnome along with being so busy that I feel like I can't catch my breath. Today is perfectly timed to sit and remind myself of the best bits.

Annual Leave
As per the above and to try and find my balance, I have booked a couple of days off this week. That makes today my Friday and I couldn't be happier. Of course, I do have to fit 3 days work into 1 but I will take it!

Acupuncture
This is something that I do every 7-8 weeks and I'm still really feeling the benefits after 2 years. I've been suffering with headaches for the past couple of weeks and looking back at my notes I have also suffered every February since I started going. The theory is that this is Spring related and how the pressure in the environment (ie. pushing up flowers etc) is contributing to these. I am really influenced by the season's so it wouldn't be surprising if that is the case.

A Kitchen Clear Out
The kitchen in the bungalow is fairly tiny and since we moved in last October we haven't had a proper sort/clear out. I woke up on Sunday morning and whilst the kettle was boiling made the decision to get on with it. Obviously the situation was dire because I hadn't even had coffee or breakfast! A few days on and it looks lovely, nothing is jumping out of the cupboards at me and I have renewed motivation to finally get it painted.

A Lovely Neighbour
Whilst I had introduced myself to our neighbour when we we began renovating the bungalow due to the noise, we hadn't had a proper chat. After some of our fence panels blew down, it was the perfect opportunity to pop around for a natter. He is such a lovely man!

Wonderful Wednesday Twenty

I didn't really mean for this blog to be all about the Wonderful Wednesday posts, not that that's a bad thing. With all of the plates spinning in the air at the moment it's nice to sit and take stock of the best bits.

Visits from Lovely Folk
My favourite friend, from those long ago university days, visited a week last Saturday and it was wonderful. We ate Chinese food, bared our souls and watched plenty of feel good films. We don't see each other much anymore, what with her living a couple of hours away and having her own little family so I really treasure those times when we do get together.

Fresh Blooms
Daffodils have begun to spring up in our very overgrown garden. We haven't begun to tackle this yet due to the weather being rubbish and having a ton of things to do indoors. I'm looking forward to getting out in the garden in the next few weeks and starting to make some headway. In particular, I have plans for a little patch outside of the kitchen door to be the herb garden. It already has a well established rosemary bush so it would be rude not to.

Coconut Collaborative Rice Pudding
I actually love everything this company touches but good grief their vanilla rice pudding is good! Warmed up briefly in the microwave it is just enough to keep my sugar cravings at bay. Also, their little choc pots are amazing if that's more your thing.

Veg Boxes
After putting my hand in a rather rotten bag of green beans the day after we bought them, Byron and I have decided to go 100% British with our veg for the foreseeable future. We've signed up to some Abel & Cole organic veg boxes where you get 5-6 different types of veg each week and it's been wonderful so far. This week we received possibly the best carrots I have ever tasted, some potatoes, leeks, mushrooms, kale and Jerusalem artichokes. Easily enough for an entire week and the cost wasn't bad either. It's a great way of getting us cooking more and whilst leeks aren't my favourite we have actually nearly eaten all of them. Not sponsored, just damn good veggies!

Project 333
I'll probably write more about this in it's own post but I recently starting organising my wardrobe in line with Project 333. Whilst I don't necessarily think that you have to stick to a specific number (In this case 33 items) it is handy to have something to work towards. I actually found that once I had just selected the things I really loved and felt confident in I only had 19 items! A sorry state indeed! Anyway, it's made getting ready every day a doddle and I no longer feel the same anxiety when opening my wardrobe doors to be faced with clothes that don't make me feel good. The big spring clean will spill out into the kitchen this weekend so watch this space.
